Importing blog XML file going to 404

  • I am trying to import a 1.97MB XML file from another WP blog into mine (I selected ‘all contents’) and after I assign the authors and check to download attachments, the next screen hangs then eventually leads to a 404 page on the front-end (URL = /wp-admin/admin.php?import=wordpress&step=2)

    Any idea on why that would be? I am simplytrying to import all blog posts and images/content associated with those blog posts.

  • I had the same issue and it went away when I updated the plugins.

    Hi!

    I noticed that even tho I got the 404 at step2, WordPress actually kept on importing the files. Thats a bit unwanted feature, since it basically duplicates content on each new try.

    So, if You get this 404-error, go and check out the uploads folder to make sure if it actually is importing stuff.
