    I have a query regarding categories.
    When one uploads the category field do I just put in the categories and sub-categories separated by a pipe ‘|’, or do I have to further define them.
    For instance I have a ‘Europe’ category with ‘Italy’ and ‘Ireland’ as sub-categories; is it enough to put ‘Europe|Italy|Ireland’ ?

    Thanks in advance,

    I also want to know the answer?

    The pipe separates parent categories. You need to use -> to define a sub category.

    So it would ready Europe->Italy

    I am not sure if adding another -> will create a sub category of the sub category though.

    Its a shame the author couldn’t answer this question!

    Yeah, many thanks for that. I’m involved in some other work at the moment but when I have time I’ll run a few tests on it and report on the outcome.
    Agree about the author too!

    -> will bring you a level deeper and | will add a new

    cat->subcat->subsubcat->subsubsubcat|cat2|cat3|cat4->subcat4->subsubcat4

    What if I just want to add a lot of product categories and subcategories, without adding products. Will this work for that? If not, do you know anything that would?

    Also wondering if the -> symbol supports importing subcategories of the same name as in apple -> sugarless and orange -> sugarless where sugarless is a subcategory of both top level categories but contain different items.

    Doing this makes the slug for the sub category be like ‘cat-subcat’ – I only want it to be ‘subcat’ How can this be done?
