• s2Memeber please help!

I’m trying to import a CSV for members but the CSV isn’t encapsulated with double quotes I opened in both excel and textedit (mac user). The CVS contains over 1300 members so putting the quotes in manually isn’t really an option. Can you help me with this issue?

Also, I imported one user in manually and everything imported fine except for the address field. The address field is a custom field i created using s2Member. Can you please explain why it isn’t bringing that data over? What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you,

    Jason

  • I can’t really help with the second issue.

As to the first issue, there isn’t a bug here, so you are going to need some sort of workaround. Where did you get the CSV file from?

    My client’s hosting company.

I mean, has it come from another WordPress site, or from somewhere else? I am trying to work out if it might be possible to get them to create an export that will work for you.

It was not another WordPress site. I believe they exported from an SQL database.

In that case, I think you have several options.

An SQL database should be able to export to two CSV formats — one is plain CSV, and one is CSV for MS Excel — as well as XML format.

So you could ask you client’s host to see if they could export the data (a) into the CSV export format they didn’t use before and/or (b) into XML.

Thirdly, you could try using Excel (or the LibreOffice equivalent) to export your current CSV file to XML.

If you go the XML route, you could try using a plugin like AEIOU to import your user data. There are also several Import Users plugins that work with CSV files in the repository. In other words, you don’t have to use the built-in s2Member CSV importer.
