    Hi all,

Ok I have just moved a development site to a new server and now the site is live. Everything is working fine (after a brief spell of the White Screen – something to do with ‘Unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING’ in user.php, which is very strange as it worked fine on the other server).

Anyway, I currently have 3 Dummy posts on the live site, but what I want to do is import the old original posts from the old site (not development site but the actual old site) – to have some real content. If I import the full database using PHPMyAdmin, will that overwrite some WordPress settings, or is there another way to just import the posts – would the import / export feature of WordPress work?

    Cheers.

  • yes, if you import the database using PHPMyAdmin it will overwrite the WordPress settings… if you just want posts, I would use the import/export feature of wordpress. You may have to go through and clean up a few things in the posts, but I have done it this way in the past and it worked well for us.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought that was the case, just wanted to be sure.

I had just tested it now, imported the old database and got the white screen, so I’ve imported the previous test database and it’s back to normal. I will use the import / export feature of WordPress and hopefully all will be ok.

    Cheers.
