Importing Diaryland Comments
-
I have been on WordPress since April, and I converted over all of my posts… well all of the important ones manually by copying them one at a time and modifying the post date.
However, I have 10 months of posts before that where I was on Diaryland. I exported my entries and comments with the clayrhino liberate script, which dumps everything into a huge html file.
I’d like to preserve the comments, and I’d like to do it without typing in each name and copying in the comment. (Not to mention messing with the comment post date/time. I know Diaryland doesn’t have “Users” persay in the data exported by “liberate.” It only has the name provided by the person at the time of the comment.
I’ve read up on MT and blogger importing, but nothing seems to apply to my problem. One more reason I left Diaryland…
My only thought is that there may be some way to format the comments/users/times/emails into an excel file, and then import this into the appropriate place in the database. However, being a n00b, I have no idea how one would go about doing that second part…
Help me.
