We’re switching our old website over to a WordPress site, trying to keep it as similar in appearance as possible to avoid stressing out the users. We currently have our staff contact information in a PHP database with the staff directory displayed as a very simple table on the website: no photos, just a table with one row per member and a column each for name, email, phone number, and room. Can I import the database information or would I need to specifically enter it into Simple Staff List?

    Hi @tejewell
I don’t currently have a way to import built into the plugin, but you can use a plugin like WP All Import to take your existing data (however you can export it from your existing site) and import it into the Staff Member custom post type. That plugin is really easy to use and have used it on multiple projects in the past (I didn’t write the plugin, nor did I use an affiliate link).

@brettshumaker when using WP All Import to import from a URL does your plugin auto update if some data changes? I’m trying to have a CSV brought in by a URL and will set up WP All Import to check for changes but I want to make sure that will translate to the plugin. Thanks for your time!

You should be able to configure WP All Import to schedule a CSV to be pulled in via a URL, and then configure the import to update existing posts (staff members) based on a “unique identifier.”

Since that import is done 100% on the WP All Import side you’d need to ask them about any specifics, but it should be possible.

    Hope that helps!

    thanks @brettshumaker, you’re my hero

@brettshumaker the issue is the new data is coming in but the old data still exists. For example, I had a staff member that I deleted on my CSV and re-imported but the staff member remained on my page.

Nevermind, I forgot to choose the delete old data option. thanks again @brettshumaker!
