Importing indexed .png files blows filesize up
-
I usually add screenshots to articles i write. To save space on my webspace and to minimize traffic i reduce the colors of my images within gimp
Image -> Mode -> Indexed -> Generate optimum palette
Now, when i upload one of these images to my blog, wordpress creates several thumbnails which are way bigger than the full format image. Here’s a example. This is the “original” picture:
nvidia2.png – 31,5kb:

nvidia2-150×150.png – 31,1kb

https://www.ubuntu-pics.de/bild/1256/nvidia2430x322ITC33.pngnvidia2-430×322.png is five times bigger than my original image. The reason is that wordpress converts the image back to rgb. Is it possible to keep the color palette?
