Importing Starter Templates

    When I import a starter template will I be overwriting the live site or will I be importing into an inactive state which I can then preview and customize prior to making it live? The dialogue on import stopped me in my tracks because it made it feel like it was instantly going to overwrite everything and be live after import which is not something I would ever want to do with any theme unless it was literally a brand new and otherwise unpublished website. I would really like to try some starter templates but I need some clarity on this end of it please before I can feel comfortable doing anything with it.

    Hi there,

    Please note that full site importing is designed for new/empty sites with no content. Your site customizer settings, widgets, menus will all be overridden. We don’t recommend testing out starter templates on a live site as changes will be reflected right after the import. It would always be better to test things out on a staging site.
