Importing Users, What’s the Password?

    I’m importing a huge number of posts and authors into WP from Movable Type.

    Okay, two questions.
    1) WP says “If a new user is created by WordPress, a password will be randomly generated. Manually change the user’s details if necessary.”

    How do I know what the randomly generated password is?

    2) WP keeps asking me (because I’m doing this in batches) whether I want to create a new user named so-and-so or whether I’d like to map to an existing user. Sometimes there’s an existing user, sometimes not. What happens if I create a new user with exactly the same name? That’s what seems to be happening.
