Importing XML file

  • I am trying to import live WordPress site as XML file at my localhost. Using Tools>Import (increased the limit, it has enough memory) I imported some posts and media, but there was some error and most of the content failed to import.

    Also, I tried plugins for import, but that works even worse, or I don’t know how to use them. For example, with WP All Import I imported only posts without media or anything else.

    I need to know is it even possible to import all from the site, like themes, plugins etc? And how can I get the most of the import?
    Please, if anyone knows the answer, help me.

  • If you are trying to replicate the live site exactly as it is on localhost I would suggest this plugin. It’s an amazing time saver ??

    Thank you very much, but I don’t have an access to the live site, only that XML file was given to me. So I’m not sure it helps :/
