    Hi,

I (and apperantly some other users?) have a problem changing the plugin language AFTER the plugin has been installed. I have searched through the support topics and tried everything to get the plugin to change its (admin and content) language to German.

On an other site (where the language already was German) I had no problem.

    I have tried:
    – un- and reinstalling the plugin
    – after uninstalling I tried to delete everything that appears to have to do with the plugin in the mySQL DB (cmplz / complianz) but it seems I missed some settings
    – re-downloaded all language packs and switched the language of WordPress
    – used the “Reset to default values” button after switching WP language

I am rly out of ideas and a bit desperate (since Complianz seems to be the best Plugin for my case).

Any help would be greatly appreciated (maybe tell me where in the DB Complianz is saving stuff, so I can carefully delete every trace and start over)

    BR
    Henning

I also checked the plugins activated language, which looks correct:

    Hi @hbertsch,

Are you using a translation plugin? If deleting everything from Complianz didn’t work (you can do this under settings as well -> delete all on uninstall).

The first thing that comes to mind is that string registration is not correct in the tables of the specific translation plugin.

Let me know if that’s a possibility,
    regards Aert

    Hello Aert,

    thank you for your response.

I do not have any translation plugin installed. The site is single language only.

I already tried to enable the “Clear all data from Complianz on uninstall” switch and then un-installed the plugin. Furthermore I used WP-Optimize after deinstallation in the hope to clean any left overs in the DB.

Unfortunately, after installing Complianz again, the Wizzard starts over in English again and leaves me with Englisch documents.

Can you tell me how Complianz is indicatind what language to use, so I can check the configuration Complianz is relying on? (I am a Dev – not Web though – but I can not easily browse and understand the plugin source code).

These are the installed plugins. Maybe you know of any known incompatibilities?

    Hi @hbertsch,

To try and reproduce the described issue, I created a sandbox website and started out with English as the Site Language, then installed & fully configured Complianz, and switched the language to German (Sie) afterwards.

The only action I had to take for the German (Formal) translations to be displayed was updating the translation files once, under Dashboard > Updates > übersetzungen, and it immediately used the correct translations afterwards.

I see in your previous post that you have a plugin called “stops-core-theme-and-plugin-updates”. Could it be a possibility that this plugin prevents you from updating the translation files?

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hi @jarnovos ,

good lord! Thank you! I feel kind of embarrassed that I have not thought about this particular plugin to be a problem o.O

Disabling it and pressing the (now available) re-install “Version 5.9.3-da_DE_formal” button resolved this issue.

So yeah…additional Plugins are dangerous ?? Many thanks for your support and shout out the Complianz team for the great plugin and support!

    Hi @romolivier,

As this is resolved, I guess it’s not the same problem. Could you start a new thread?
