    Hello,

A freelance I hired did a mistake with WPML.
He duplicated all my content 2 times.
I deleted the biggest part but I still have some pictures that I need to delete.

And when I delete an image, it seems that it is not completely deleted.

For example, I have an image named Telephone-Xiaomi-Redmi-9A-Bleu-1.jpg (the “-1” here is because I rank my image to know in which order to put them).
I have 3 times this image and I don’t which one is attached to the product so I delete them 3 and I upload a new one to replace it.

But even if I deleted the 3 images and cleared the cache, when I add the new image, its name is now Telephone-Xiaomi-Redmi-9A-Bleu-1-1.jpp. The second “-1” is here because it seems that WordPress find at least another image with the name Telephone-Xiaomi-Redmi-9A-Bleu-1.jpg even if like you saw I deleted them all. Here is the image for another product : https://ibb.co/Z2SpDZP

Would you know why WordPress /Woocommerce thinks that there is still an image named like that whereas I already deleted them all ?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

To get a better idea of your site setup, please provide the following information:

Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.?

Error Log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (if available).

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your quick reply.
Is there not a private link where I can share that with you ?

    Hello,

Unfortunately no ?? since this is a public forum, you can remove your website link from the system status report if you would like to keep it private, and you can use a service like pastebin.com to send it.

We’ll look forward to hearing from you.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the tips.
Here are the information : https://pastebin.com/qHjmXAF8

    Hello,

It looks like your system status didn’t come through, but have your checked your images from WP-Admin > Media > Library? You can find images that are not attached to products:

    Link to image: https://snipboard.io/0MXTR8.jpg

even if I deleted the 3 images and cleared the cache, when I add the new image, its name is now Telephone-Xiaomi-Redmi-9A-Bleu-1-1.jpp. The second “-1” is here because it seems that WordPress find at least another image with the name Telephone-Xiaomi-Redmi-9A-Bleu-1.jpg even if like you saw I deleted them all.

Have you permanently deleted the image Telephone-Xiaomi-Redmi-9A-Bleu-1? Can you check if that image still exists in your media library?

    (@hippow)

    Hello,

No the image does not exist anymore like you can see here : https://ibb.co/bmYWDhF

The only one who exist has this file name : “Telephone-Xiaomi-Redmi-9A-Bleu-1-1.jpg” because wordpress considers that a file with this name “Telephone-Xiaomi-Redmi-9A-Bleu-1.jpg” already exists and I don’t know why

    Hello @hippow!

Do you have Jetpack enabled on your site? (Your system status is no more available. )

If so, then replacing images with files of the same name will not upload the new images to Jetpack’s CDN. You’ll need to ask the Jetpack folks to remove the first file from their cache. https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/jetpack/

Hope it helps. Let us know how it goes.

    Hello,

I come after having intented to find a solution to that problem.

I can see that if I add my image trough the backend of a product, WordPress considers that the image already exists even if other images with the same name have been deleted.

On the contrary if I add my image through the the media section, then it is working, WordPress recognizes that no other images have the same name.

Do you know why is there this bug ?

    Hello @hippow!

Have you checked my previous reply?

A similar issue was solved in a similar way so I suggested that. Please give that a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hello,

Yes but I don’t have Jetpack

    Hi there,

It seems that the image URL is still in the database postmeta table. Can you clear the transients in WooCommerce > Status > Tools?

    (@hippow)

    Hello,

    Unfortunately it’s still not working.

Do you have another solution ?

When I am adding an image through the backend of a product, it seems that WordPress put the images in the same file as the first image with this name because it uses the same URL file : https://the97shop.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Telephone-Xiaomi-Redmi-9A-Vert-1-1.jpg

When I add it through the Media Library it uses another URL file : https://the97shop.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Telephone-Xiaomi-Redmi-9A-Vert-1.jpg

There must be a bug in the connection with the database don’t you think ?

    Hi @hippow

Could you please re-share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response or at pastebin.com as you did before.

    Hello,

Thank you for your reply. Before troubleshooting further, I’d recommend updating your WordPress version and making sure your theme and all other plugins are up to date.

I can see that if I add my image trough the backend of a product, WordPress considers that the image already exists even if other images with the same name have been deleted.

To clarify, when you deleted an image from the product edit page, did you delete it permanently? https://snipboard.io/DTqvw9.jpg

Have you also tried deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and switch your theme to Storefront to see if if you can replicate the issue? Since you have quite a long list of plugins active, you’ll want to check for a theme/plugin conflict. You can find a detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

If you don’t want to test on your live site, you can create a staging site using a plugin called?WP Staging: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-staging/
