• A customer hired me to edit their existing website that uses the Impreza theme with WPBakery page builder. Trouble is, that WPBakery does not work properly, it seems more buggy than the Guteberg block editor and I have a hard time using their visual editor. There is no hierarchical structure view, no proper source view (apart from a classic editor full of bloated shortcodes), drag and drop does not work for rows, and the preview is broken for many elements, especially those that display dynamic data or use background images, paddings and margin.

Sorry if this reads off-topic or like a rant (which it is), but how do those manufacturers dare to charge money for their software? I would like to upgrade my customer’s site to the block editor and full-site editing, which seems like the lesser evil now, but I fear that’s not supported by Impreza theme and might make the existing site worse.

Questions: What’s the recommended alternative to Bakery, and what is the best practice to upgrade a site like that to a more maintainable state, without breaking the existing content and style? Is there a migration tool from WPBakery to Gutenberg?

  • If you have problems with WPBakery, I would recommend you to contact the support of this commercial PageBuilder you are using: https://support.wpbakery.com – questions about commercial products are not permitted here in the forum.

I also don’t know if there is a migration tool for switching to the Block Editor. At least someone here has written a guide that requires at least a few more commercial plugins. I think a complete re-installation would be more effective if that’s what you’re after and WpBakery’s support can’t help accordingly.

Thanks, I will have to evaluate possible solutions.

    P.S.

I was able to narrow down the errors. With Impreza + WPBakery, dragging rows in not working (the row event handler is missing). Without Impreza, latest WPBakery + Twenty Twenty-Four Theme works as expected.

As I don’t have a login to Impreza support forums (only my customers have), maybe someone could open the issue on our behalf.

That “someone” has to be your customer.

Have your customer get you the latest versions of the Impreza theme AND WPBakery plugin AND any other 3rd-party plugin that were bundled with the the theme (eg Revolution Slider, etc) and install.

If installing the latest versions of the theme and all these plugins doesn’t fix the issue, have your customer file a support ticket with the theme’s vendor.

As you’ve been told already, commercial themes and plugins aren’t supported here. And no one here can request support on your behalf on a 3rd-party’s website for product you/your customer purchased from them. That just doesn’t add up.
