• Hi all,

I noticed that after the recent WP update, my Site Speed performance went from Excellent to Poor ??

According to Google test, I now need to improve the following:

    1. Remove unused CSS
    2. Reduce JavaScript execution time
    3. Serve static assets with an efficient cache policy
    4. Eliminate render-blocking resources
    5. Avoid multiple page redirects

I’m not a developer and so don’t know what steps to take ??

These plugins are being used on the site.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We have some general recommendations for you at https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/search-engine-optimization/

    Hi there,

    1.)
The WP community has a good support article on optimization here:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/optimization/

    2.)
In the plug-ins you listed, you don’t seem to be using any optimization or cache plug-ins?
You may want to try them by searching “cache” or “optimize” in the plug-in directory:

    Hi @t-p and @stevenlinx

    Thanks for your messages.

Yes, it has been a bit tricky to figure out which plugins I would need.

For instance, I previously had a conflict with Jetpack and Smush with image compression. I continued to receive the error despite disabling the Jetpack image compression option and only using Smush.

Also, In the past 6 months, I followed all the webmaster guidelines and got all my core web vitals in the green (good) zone. But since the latest WP update a month or so ago, the site speed has been atrocious.

So today, I downloaded and activated W3 Total Cache and WP-Optimize plugins and deactivated Smush and WP DB-manager. I hope all the settings are correct and that this will help the site.

Because my site did not change much in the past few months, I do not understand how my site speed has gone from being ‘excellent’ to ‘poor’.

I think another challenge I have faced is to understand and deploy plugins that will help me with multiple issues (cache, lazy load, image compression, minify, etc).
