Improving the weight/speed of the design

  • Hi all,
    Do you think that a 33k homepage is heavy?
    I get this when looking for the page property of my blog homepage in Firefox.
    What I don’t get is that some website like Techcrunch.com only weight 10k on the homepage when it is cluttered with graphical ads.

    What am I missing? Cause I believe this influences the download of the page right?
