Hey – I have a site that is using ‘Offload S3’ to store images with Amazon S3 along with Amazon Cloudfront as a CDN. The Imsanity plugin works well when processing images at upload time, however, I have many images that were uploaded before installing Imsanity which need to be resized. When I go to batch process the images, I receive a ‘not writable’ error. I am sure this is an issue with the permissions on S3 but I am not quite sure what to do. Anyone have experience with this?

Is that the WP Offload Media from Delicious Brains? If so, it is only officially supported with our other plugin, EWWW Image Optimizer.
Optimizing images on S3 requires that you have a local image to compress/resize, and also that you can get the local file-system path. Imsanity doesn’t have the logic necessary for either of those.

Ah – I see. Thank you for the quick response! I will check out EWWW.

So, I am trying EWWW and it seems that it can only compress images on S3. I don’t see any way to resize them. Is this correct or am I missing something?

If you enable “resize existing images”, the bulk optimizer will apply the dimensions you specify to the images on S3.
