• I recently switched hosts. Before doing so, i exported my entire database. I have been setting up my new host, with a clean install of wordpress. i have imported my database, and it appears all is well — the full post archive and user accounts are in play, all posts have their images, etc.

hoooowever, i can’t seem to add a new post. when attempting, the “body” field does not appear — so i can enter a title, but nothing more.

i have de-activated all plugins, switched to a stock 2020 and 2019 theme template, and even reimported my database, but no luck ??

    my blog is https://www.toonbarn.com

Troubleshooting with your browser: Your browser can help you identify JavaScript issues or conflicts and this article can assist you in doing that diagnosis. This could help identify Visual Editor issues as well.

Are you using the new Block Editor?

If so, check if REST API is available.

rest API is available — i passed that site health check. however, i am uncertain if i am using the new block editor

either way, i still have the same issue :(. no BODY field to be found.

if at all helpful of a clue, when i try to create a new post (still not BODY field) i can enter a title. after doing so, if i click SAVE DRAFT i get the following error:

Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post.

Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post.

    Are you?

If yes, this may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

i shoooould be allowed to edit and add a new post. the account i am logged into is the main admin account. I seem to have all of the other admin superpowers (e.g.; the ability to delete themes and such)

i have deactivated all plugins. i have also switched to the twenty nineteen template (i was on twenty twenty, so attempting a different stock template) however i was still unable to add a new post.

Try MANUALLY updating. Download WordPress again and unzip it, and use that to copy up. Access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. (NOTE: do not delete the?wp-content?directory or your?wp-config.php?file). Please read the Manual Update directions first.

Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups! See https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/wordpress-backups/

    I recently switched hosts.

If the issue occurred after host change, then you may also want to ask your new host why this issue is occurring on their server?

    (@drkknght)

i have completed the manual install, as directed from the link above, but to no avail ??

i have also connected with my new host a few times regarding the issue, but they’ve been unable to spot the problem

in odd news, and if helpful for triage, i AM able to edit existing posts — even posts i did not create (in true admin fashion)

whilst editing, i can access the new editor. the posts save correctly, and update as expected .

    Glad to hear it ??

sorry, for clarity — i can only EDIT posts without issue.

i am still unabel to add new posts ??

if other clues are helpful in this triage effort…

when i try to publish theme customizations, i get this error:
    changeset_post_save_failure

    Moderator t-p

    (@t-p)

This is the function that outputs the error:
    https://developer.www.ads-software.com/reference/classes/wp_customize_manager/save_changeset_post/

The error could be from something that the Customizer is doing (core), but more likely, it is from something that the theme is doing (sanitizing values and returning an error) or a plugin is doing.

You can try enabling DEBUG mode to see if there are any details logged that would help. Or ask in your theme’s support forum.

    (@drkknght)

is it possible the two are connected? something speaking to a larger issue…?

i am less concerned about the theme than i am the ability to add a new post, so i was hoping there was a thread there ??
