    Hi Guys,

TLDR : Stripe tries opening another tab inside in-app browsers on checkout to authorise payment and doesn’t redirect to order placed page after payment.

So on my checkout page the customer enters their card details, then to authorise the payment via an OTP – another tab is opened by stripe – in this tab when the customer authorises the payment, they are then redirected to the checkout page again where the get order placed message on my website.

But this isn’t working inside in-app browsers like Instagram & Facebook because the new tab which it takes them to isn’t automatically closed or the customer isn’t automatically redirected to the Order placed page on my website.

Hence payment is being deducted but the order doesn’t go through.

Can I fix that ? Or is there an alternate way I can setup checkout so that no new tab is opened even to receive the OTP authorisation

  • What settings have you got that enable this:

to authorise the payment via an OTP

Thank you for your reply, @wbrubaker !

This is a mandatory protocol in my country. Most transactions are authenticated using an OTP. I don’t think I’ve turned on any setting for that. But is there a way I can disable this on Stripe?

I am pretty sure others would also be facing the same issue

    Hi, @stoickp!

But is there a way I can disable this on Stripe?

If you mean opening the payment authorization page in a new tab, that doesn’t look like an option right now, at least through our plugin.

Opening a new tab in mobile is more a function of Stripe itself than it is of our Stripe plugin. You may want to get in touch with Stripe though, in case they have a solution for you. You can do so here: https://support.stripe.com/

    Hi, @stoickp!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this thread as resolved. However, we’ll be here if/when you’re ready to continue.
