Hello, is it possible to place an ad in article based on word count? For example, an ad would show every 400 words for the entire article.

    Hi markman641,

    thanks for reaching out.

Showing an ad ever X words is not possible in Advanced Ads. You can insert it based on paragraphs or headlines or other elements.

I am just thinking about this loud: what would it mean if you insert by word count? Strictly speaking, you would have ads in the middle of sentences. Is this what you are aiming for?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Thomas,

I was trying to do it like this because Facebook Instant Articles does it every 250 words at the next paragraph break.

And the reason I want to do it like that is because.. let’s say I have an article that is an interview. when a writer is writing the article, they would format it like

    person 1: hey
    person 2: hey sup
    person 1: not much

doing it based on paragraphs in that format, each line is a new paragraph (unless they do a shift-enter but not many people would know to do that)
therefore if i did an ad every 5 paragraphs there would be WAY too many ads. However using the same settings on a normal article with longer paragraphs, 5 paragraphs could be very far apart and show very few ads.

    Does that make any sense?

    Hi markman641,

thank you, that one-liner style makes sense.

I am just thinking where and how to implement this.

If we have an “every x words” condition then I would ask myself where the first ad should start and whether to consider only paragraphs or also other elements, like quotes.

Or we have a “minimum paragraph” length before injecting something, but that would ignore all one-liners.

Or a condition like “min. x words before next ad” in combination with the existing settings, but would we omit an ad that is coming up earlier or push it to a later paragraph?

Not sure if this makes sense. My task is to find an implementation that is most flexible for most users and use cases.

Let me know if you have any additional ideas about that.

    Thanks,
    Thomas
