In Multisite set up how to control Widgets

  • In Multisite set up, as the site super admin how can I determine :
    1) What widgets to show in side-bar in what order to new users who create sites
    2) How can I fix/lock some widgets in position and/or settings?

    In multisite, each site is a separate, individual site with unique widget areas.

    That said, you could “clone” your new sites, so that they come pre-set with certain sidebar widgets and settings.

    Only Admin level users (or users to whom you give the theme_options capability) can access widgets. You can lock users out of some settings/widgets by their user level. But, depending on what else you need them to be able to do, this may or may not work in your situation.
