• I am dealing with a problem I hope someone here can help me with.

I came online Monday morning to find that all the ads (from various networks) were missing from the front page of my blog only. After 2 days of testing I am sure the error is either on my end or my server.

I changed theme and the problem persists. I attempted to ad coding to header.php the ad would not show on the front page. Now ads do show up from time to time and this is occurring on all major browsers and mobile browsers.

Like many of you, my ads pay the bills. Can anyone think of anything that could make the front page all of a sudden not accept the ads all the time?

I tried to keep this brief but earlier I tested out other ads and they did show up, but when I tried again later tonight they would not. I also discovered search pages also don’t show the ads. Lastly, for a brief period even the ads on the post pages (single.php) vanished.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am at my wits end.

Oh, and one other thing. When I attempted to post an article on Monday it did not show up on the front page. I called my host and they did something, not sure what, but my article eventually showed up on the front page. The ads did not however. I’m thinking these 2 things must be related

I want to add a bit more info.

When I add the ad coding to the WordPress default theme it shows the ad in the Preview window, but the ad vanishes once I activate the theme and make it live.

Also, the only other time my ads vanish is when I am writing an article and I preview it. I was also thinking that maybe the preview function went haywire and is affecting the front page.

I think it’s far more likely that there’s an issue between your site and wherever you are pulling these ads from.

I don’t actually think that though. If it was one ad network, sure, but not everyone of them.

Also, Google Adsense will show on the front page flawlessly.

Could javascript be the issue? I don’t think Google uses javascript.

Something else. I keep thinking of things. ??

The last time I had a similar issue it was with the previous WordPress update before the last.

After that update my traditional is_home() conditional tag no longer worked with some of the ads. I’m now forced to use a combination of is_home() and is_front_page() .

Swapping those didn’t help today though. As a matter of fact, in the header, usingis_front_page actually removed the pink background that shows behind the banner.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

I deactivated all the plugins and restarted one by one yesterday as well and the problem persisted.

I also did a fresh install of wordpress from the admin are.

I put an ad inside the Kubrick theme and it would not show on the front page.

I put an ad at the top on TwentyTen and it did show… in preview. But when I activated it, it could no longer be seen.

Then the issue would seem to be with your ad code.

I switched my site over to Twenty10 if you wanna take a look and no banner on the front page. Click on a story and you see the banner at the top.

I can see a banner at the top of your site’s front page.

Yes, it comes and goes. I have seen it too. Sometimes I am even seeing a double banner. But refresh a few times and it will go away.

One of my debuggers shows this `SCRIPT1010: Expected identifier
    brownsista.com, line 2 character 9`

Nothing is there that I can see but when high lighted it looks like something is there. Why the lines above DOCTYPE? That should be the first line in the code.

There are a few errors, https://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fbrownsista.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&ss=1&group=0&verbose=1&user-agent=W3C_Validator%2F1.3 that might be a cause.

I know nothing about coding and stuff. It’s like a foreign language to me.
