I’d like my search results from Relevanssi to be a lot more accurate than they are. The site I’m using Relevanssi on contains a large amount of pages and it’s very important that my search results are on-point.

Right now, for example, if I type into the search bar the words “Lesson 1” (including the quotation marks), I get all kinds of results. The first few are:
    Lesson 193
    Lesson 132
    Lesson 158
    Lesson 154
    Lesson 185
    Lesson 185

Where is the result for “Lesson 1”??? No where to be found far and wide in the search results.

On the second page of search results it’s even showing me “Lesson 275”, “Lesson 256”, and “Lesson 251″… and so forth. Still no “Lesson 1” in the search results.

These are the settings as I have them set up in Relevanssi:
    1. Default operator for the search? -AND, require all terms
    2.Disable OR fallback: Disabled
    3. When to use fuzzy matching? -Don’t use fuzzy search

What do I need to do to get more accurate results, where I can search for “Lesson 1” and my first search result is “Lesson 1”??

Relevanssi doesn’t index words shorter than three characters, so your “lesson 1” search appears to Relevanssi as “lesson”. Hence the results.

You can adjust that from Relevanssi settings, but it’s likely that the results won’t be that much better –?even if “1” is included in the search results, it’s probably one of the worst search terms there can be, as it’s such a common term.

But you can try it. Change the minimum word length setting to 1, adjust title weight to 1000 and rebuild the index. Does that help?

    Hi Mikko,
Thanks, unfortunately I already have the word length set to 1 and have a high number on the post titles. So, your suggestion doesn’t help me much.

Do you know of another plugin that may be able to give me the search results I want?

Actually!!! I just recently took on this website; it seems like the webmaster before me had excluded the number “1” from indexing!! I just undid that and now the search result come up beautifully!
