Hello, this is the only plugin we use which does not either: include the current version of the plugin in the Advanced view “Previous versions” download menu and/or include the version in the plugin filename download link itself.

Without getting into details, when we don’t use a versioned plugin download link where the version is in the filename, we can run into automated build problems with hash checks when plugin versions are updated from WordPress, but the filename doesn’t change. Using the current version of the plugin from the versioned link in the Advanced page avoids that issue because the version is included in the link name and therefore, the hash won’t change over time.

Would you please consider either or both: 1) adding the current version of the plugin to the Advanced page “Previous versions” menu so that there is also a versioned download link for the current version available; 2) adding the version to the main download link itself.

    Thank you.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @ozarkrepair,

    Thanks for coming here today!

I just checked now and the version history is still there:

Let us know if you have further inquiry.

Hi @ninjateamwp, yes, the version history is still there, but it doesn’t include the current version 2.1.4, and there is no way to download the current version with the version in the link. Please revisit my original post.

    Thank you.

Sorry if the original post wasn’t clear enough. What I’m explicitly asking for is either or both of:

    1. In the Advanced page, “previous versions” section, a link to the current version with the verison name in the link, so, following the format of the other prior version download links and with the current version being 2.1.4: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/notibar.2.1.4.zip
    2. In the main download button of notibar, include the version in the name, so rather than: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/notibar.zip, change that to a versioned link going forward: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/notibar.2.1.4.zip

…and then maintain that pattern going forward so that there is always a current release version of the notibar plugin available from a versioned link, which includes the version in the link/filename.

    Thanks for considering!

    Hi @ozarkrepair,

Let me clarify that this is the most common practice, the previous version history will display the previous version only. One example is Elementor:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/elementor/advanced/

    And the latest version will be what is always available to download via the plugin’s page itself, as in when you go here for instance;

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/elementor/

Regarding what you said about the file naming by including the version number, do you mean when you go to the Notibar plugin’s page and click on Download , then the plugin is downloaded with its common name only without indicating the version number, right?

If so, then I would be glad to forward this to the team in charge to look into that.

    Regards,
    Bruce

    Hi Bruce,

I see what you mean about few plugins including the current version in the previous versions download list.

Regarding what you said about the file naming by including the version number, do you mean when you go to the Notibar plugin’s page and click on?Download?, then the plugin is downloaded with its?common name?only without indicating the version number, right?

Yes! The example from the elementor link you provided above has the current version as part of the link from the main plugin download button: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/elementor.3.18.3.zip.

If so, then I would be glad to forward this to the team in charge to look into that.

    That would be great, thanks!
