Include custom tax tags in search results

I have a post_type: items

I have a taxonomy for items, called: collection

This collection has several tags, one named Stamps

When searching:

I want the TAG Stamps to show up if searched “stamps”

I don’t want to see individualitems post that have the stamps TAG — Just the TAG as a search result. (this is what all advance search plugins do)

I tried “Search Everything” plugin
I tried “Advanced Custom Post Search” plugin
& I tried just about every code snippet I could find online.
I’ve been playing with pre_get_posts but can’t figure this out.
