Include DELETE option please – easier instal NEW

  • I have an installed blog latest wordpress 4.5 version
    No delete option anywhere, not in tools, dashboard, wp admin user etc
    That is, to keep the wordpress on site address but completely replace with new import including appearance etc
    (import on existing just overlays new posts on old appearance etc – new appearance, media, images in a full import xml don’t upload and shift the old appearance etc settings)

    Thank you James!

    That resets database ok but keeps files, themes…still useful though thanks!
    I wanted a complete reset so can import new blog w different title, themes, posts, database – without having to reinstal everything
    (problem is using cPanel Softaculous instal system, — they ask for themes etc from start no good import system, poss better direct from wordpress org
    Possibly only wordpress.com free autohost has the described delete options?!)

    WordPress.com does have a delete option, but we have seen some hosting providers offer one in their third-party installers (like Softaculous) too.

    For now, I recommend either:

    1. Using one of the above plugins to reset the database, then access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and deleting everything inside /wp-content/plugins/ and /wp-content/uploads/ then everything inside /wp-content/themes/ except /wp-content/themes/twenty-sixteen/ (you’ll need at least one theme for WordPress to function, and this is the current default theme).

    2. Using the MySQL section of your hosting account’s control panel to completely delete the database, and SFTP/FTP or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel to delete all WordPress files, then simply reinstall WordPress.

    Yes I guess best go to hosting files like you say
    Not really work with Softaculous
    I’ll also make a note of this for my hosting people to consider in the first place!
