    Hi

I’ve disabled indexing of Tag pages by default.
But I want a few of the tag pages to be indexed, and updated the setting from relevant Tag editor -> Yoast -> Advanced setting.

While it is now open to indexing, these specific tags are still not showing up in XML sitemap.

Any idea how can some specific tags be included in the sitemap?

    Thanks
    K

Can you please share the relevant tags page URL here with us so that we can take a look at them on our end?

Here are the two tag urls that I’ve opened for indexing, but still not showing in sitemap

All other Tags on my website are no-index (set from yoast settings)

We looked at the relevant tags pages and those look like custom post types taxonomy “topic” rather than the WordPress posts tag. We also looked at the sitemap index on your site and couldn’t find the relevant sitemap at all. So, can you please confirm whether you have all the settings correct on the relevant “topic” custom post type taxonomy?

In addition, we see the XML sitemap generated by Yoast SEO is being cached by the 3rd party W3 Total Cache plugin. We recommend you please follow the guide here to exclude the XML sitemap from being cached.

Once you exclude the sitemap from the W3 Total Cache plugin, please flush the cache to see whether this resolves the issue for you.

    Hi

    Thanks for your reply.
I’ve excluded the sitemap from W3total cache plugin as mentioned in the link you shared.

About the “topic” appearing in the URL: It is not a custom post taxonomy but rather a setting of “Tag base” in WordPress. This I’ve set from the “Tag base” setting in wordpress (Settings -> Permalinks -> Optional) Screenshot: https://ibb.co/zZrX991

Could you have a look again and let me know how can I resolve the issue I’m facing.

    Thanks
    K

    Hi,

We understand that you’ve set the tags to ‘noindex’ so they don’t show up in the search results and the tag sitemap has been removed from the sitemap index. You then set some individual tags to ‘index’ but they aren’t showing up in the sitemap. Is this correct?

If so, we previously opened a GitHub issue for that concern, but it was closed since it wouldn’t be considered to be worked on. You can learn more about it here.

You could consider the workaround of setting your tags to ‘index’ and then just noindexing the tags that you don’t want to be in the sitemap.

Sure let me see if that workaround is feasible for me.

Thank you for your support. Really appreciate it.
