    Hi there,

I must be missing something, but I was/am under the impression this plugin was going to be built into WP core. At least I have just updated to 4.6 and further updates are still using ‘The bleak screen of sadness’.

Yes, I have tried it on a localhost test site and it works great. Do I now have to install Shiny on my live site?

    Hey Sean,

Yes, the majority of what we’ve worked on is now included in WordPress 4.6 (yay!). However, the screen you’ll see at /wp-admin/update-core.php is unfortunately not yet shiny.

We’re going to continue adding some more shininess to that page and others so there’s no harm in keeping it activated. The plugin and theme screens now work totally fine without this plugin though.

    Hope that answers your question.

    Cheers,
    Pascal

    Hi Pascal,

Thanks for clearing that up, sorry about the cross posting in other threads.

I don’t yet have Shiny on my live site, but I have played with it on a test site, and liked it, a lot. I take it I can now add it to my live site as it only works on 4.6 and up?

    Cheers,

    Sean.

No problem, always happy to help!

Yes, you can certainly do that. Shiny Updates now requires WordPress 4.6 to be installed in order to work. The reason is that it relies on all the new stuff we’ve added over the last few months.

I’m marking this topic as resolved. If there’s any other question, feel free to ask again here or open a new one.

Just added it to my live site, looks great, even though everything is currently up to date.

I have now seen the light, so to speak. Case closed/resolved ??
