Where to put author tags

I did read all those posts, but I am still unclear. Where do i go to edit the loop? Is that an option in my wordpress administration options? If so where? Or do i have to actually download pages from my server to put it in?

1] Step 1: Open index.php [template file] in your favorite editor.

If you have installed blog in the directory /blog/ & are using default wordpress theme the file index.php is located at
https://www.yoursitename.com/blog/wp-content/themes/default/

OR
If you have installed blog in root directory & are using default wordpress theme the file index.php is located at
https://www.yoursitename.com/wp-content/themes/default/

2] Locate the loop

<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

3] Add <?php the_author() ?> at appropriate location

I think n the deafult theme, which is in use on your blog, you just have to uncomment the author tag.
You may see something like:
<!--<?php the_author(); ?>-->
Remove the “comment” to get this:
<?php the_author(); ?>

Thanks guys. One more question. Is there anyway users can see each other’s profiles? Lets say someone writes a post and the
name shows up on the home page. How can I make the names a link to their profiles?

Man this stuff can get confusing. Ive read those threads, and I think Ive done the right thing in creating the profile.php page and saving it in the my themes folder. Now I think the next step is linking the names of the authors to the profile page or template that will list everything about that author. But I cant seem to find the tag that creates that link…

It must be onfusing… for you, at least. Or you have a reading disability. The second sentence in the article about the AUTHOR TEMPLATES reads like this:
You can put information in this template file to display information about authors on the blog. All authors will use the same author.php template.

Where did you get the “profile.php” thing???

You dont need to respond if your gonna come with your disrespect. Reading Disability???? Not because you have experience with the application means that everyone will find it easy. I have no HTML experience, no PHP experience and I never used wordpress or any type of theme before. So there is no denying it will be confusing for me. Im trying to do my own thing and ask for help in the forum. moderator or not, keep your advice and let those who really want to help respond in the forums since you have an attitude problem.
