After I installed wordpress 2.3, my incoming links area on my dashboard now lists quite a number of my own blog posts from my index page as being an incoming link. I don’t understand why this would be but, has anyone else experienced this and is this a bug?

Am I the only one having problems with the INCOMING LINKS section of the dashboard? This thing keeps showing my latests blog posts from the front page instead of showing me links.

No – you’re not the only one. I noticed that v2.3 now uses Google’s Blogsearch. And unfortunately, Blogsearch seems to list your own posts when you do a vanity search.

Compared to the old method of using Technorati, I’d much rather that this even though Technorati is buggy in itself.

A commenter on my site named Brad gave me this very helpful tip on how to change the incoming links from blogsearch back to technorati.

If you want to get Technorati results back change:

on lines 11 and 12 in index-extra.php to
    “https://feeds.technorati.com/cosmos/rss/?url=”
    and
    “https://www.technorati.com/search/”

I have the same issue – my last 4 incoming links are from myself!
But I’ve seen this on my blog since at least version 2.
I’d thought it was down to my slightly non standard install of wordpress as a CMS.
Tell me are you installed in the location of your blog? ie the root, or “/blog”
or are you in a directory called “/wordpress” or something like that, but your blog address appearing to come from the root or “/blog” ?

Thanks jeffro. This is exactly what I was looking for. ??

Drewminstry, my WordPress is installed into my Root directory.

No problem Chris. Thank the guy who commented and published the fix ??

    Thanks Brad/jeffro! ??

Worked like a charm. Thanks for the fix!

Just what I needed. Thanks, Brad/jeffr0!

I have no incoming links showing at all on any blogs I’ve updated. Blogs with the earlier version do show incoming links so I’ve been reluctant to upgrade them.

Well, indeed NOT resolved. Nothing to do with Google, bad technorati, whatever. It is an instability in the WP software that makes the PHP sometimes work and sometimes not. Interesting here is the question of where in the directory it is installed. My wild guess is, a good path to analyse but I am not good enough for this!
