Incompatible “Warning: mysqli_set_charset()”

  • Hello,

    I installed W3 Live Chat on my website https://arnoldsenvironmental.com/ a few years ago and the 8.0.12 version of this plugin worked perfectly. I recently upgraded the plugin to the latest 8.1.7 version on my WordPress 5.3.2 version website. Everything was fine until 1-2 hours later, the website went down.

    All you see is the error mentioned below:

    Warning: mysqli_set_charset(): Error executing query in?/webroot/a/r/arnol006/arnoldsenvironmental.com/www/wp-includes/wp-db.php?on line?792

    We disabled each plugin folder and slowly re-introduced plugins back to the website. When we got to 3CX WP Live Chat, the website went down again with the same error mentioned above. What is causing your plugin to interfere with the WordPress installation files?

    P.S. If you can please help, that would be great. We love your plugin and hope to continue to use it. This is an urgent matter as they used your plugin frequently on their website.

    I would also like to add that I am using PHP 7.3.

    Hi @izamarvirafuentes ,

    Do you get that error immediately after activating our plugin or after a while?

    Are you using the on-premise or Cloud chat mode?

    Hello,

    Thank you for replying. I am using whatever the default settings were when the plugin is enabled. The only settings changed were chatbox styles, enabled auto-pop “Start Chat” feature, and offline messages.

    The error usually happens about 0.50hrs-1.00hrs after the new plugin version is re-activated. The website can be down for about 5-15 minutes, then would come back up.

    Also, when the plugin is enabled, the outages happen every 0.50-1.00hrs. until I disable the plugin.
