I’ve discovered that your plug-in is incompatible with the HashBuddy plug-in as well – anything that needs to insert code in an activity update is broken by your plug-in, due to it not using the standard post update function. You either have to allow your custom posting function to pass these codes, or modify your plug-in so that it uses the standard post update function for posting the activity update (your own function should only upload or embed, not post the update as well).

    Hello ljmac,

I trust you are doing well!

I couldn’t test the BuddyBoss wall plugin because it’s a premium, however the BuddyPress Activity As Wire is working well with the BuddyPress Activity Plus plugin.

The the HashBuddy plugin is fully compatible as well with the BuddyPress Activity Plus plugin.

Please deactivate all other plugins and leave activated only the following plugins and test again:
    – BuddyPress Activity As Wire
    – BuddyPress Activity Plus
    – HashBuddy
    – BuddyPress

If everything is working, activate one plugin at the time, till you find the plugin that causes the dysfunctionality.

Please switch to a default WordPress theme as well.

If there is only a specific feature of the plugins that is not working, please let us know.

    Cheers,
    Nastia

I am unable to confirm HashBuddy (that was reported by another user), but I can definitely confirm that Activity As Wire does not work correctly – the author of the plug-in has confirmed this himself. You probably think it works because the activity is still posted – however, there is supposed to be an @username link placed at the start of the post, which disappears when using your plug-in. This means a notification of the post is not sent out as it should be.

    Hello ljmac,

You probably think it works because the activity is still posted – however, there is supposed to be an @username link placed at the start of the post, which disappears when using your plug-in

That’s weird, because when I tested it, the user’s link (@useraname) is showing up and the other user got notifications under “Mentions” tab.

I have repeated the test with two different accounts and you can see the screencast below:

Is this supposed to work differently? The behavior is almost the same without the BuddyPress Activity Plus plugin.

Okay, I can see why you aren’t reproducing the problem.

Activity As Wire (and BuddyBoss Wall) are for posting on other people’s profiles in the same way as you do on Facebook – you go to their profile, and post from there. You do not enter the @username yourself – the plug-in enters it automatically on posting.

If you enable Activity As Wire, go to somebody else’s profile, and post there without entering the @username yourself or uploading anything to Activity Plus, you will see this – it still works when Activity Plus is running if you don’t upload anything. The problem is, your custom posting buttons break the automatic entering of the @username.

    Hello there ljmac

I can reproduce this, when attaching a file on the other user’s profile the mention doesn’t show up.

At the current time, this doesn’t work out of a box, however I will pass this to our developers as a feature requiest and if there is enough interest by other members on a WPMU DEV forum we’ll consider it for future development.

Thank you for informing us about this.

Have a nice day and take care!

    Cheers,
    Nastia

same issue – With “BuddyBoss Wall” plugin and “BuddyPress Activity Plus”, when posting a file (with no text in status box) on the another user’s profile the mention doesn’t show up and it posts to your own wall instead

    Hello namrons,

Thanks for joining thread – as you can see this will not work out of the box, but if there will be more people interested on this feature in our plugin it will considered for development.

    kind regards,
    Kasia

    Hello tall00,

Thanks for posting but it doesn’t seem like your problem is similar to one described here. Please create separate thread for your issue – and provide as many details about your problem as possible.

    kind regards,
    Kasia
