Incompatible with HyperDB and SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS deprecation

The HyperDB plugin handles FOUND_ROWS() queries in a special way and in the case of Events Manager breaks due to the use of the “DISTINCT” keyword. The result is the event listing pages do not return any events and “Attempted SELECT FOUND_ROWS() without prior SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS” is written to the PHP error log. I know this should probably be fixed in HyperDB but with the impending deprecation of SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS you may want to just avoid using it altogether. Looks like the WP team is aware of the deprecation.

Thanks for pointing this out. Whilst we can’t test for HyperDB compatibility as WP officially supports MySQL only, your point about SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS is very valid and if that fixes your problem then we can probably sort this out in an upcoming update.
As this isn’t urgent, it may not come out in an immediate update but it should be soon.
