I am in the process of “try before buy” and installed the plug-in.

Following the installation guide, I managed half of Stage 1 where I used FTP to create a directory and upload the validation file. I was about to visit the domain name site to “add some records” for part 2 of Stage 1 and immediately a pop-up blocked the information referring to my C Panel which is on my hosting site. So I downloaded and copied the 3 SSL files across to C Panel and all seemed fine. The pop-up hijacked my opportunity to complete the task.

However, I now appear to be totally locked out of my site. Possibly this may be due to the fact I was unable to add information in the 2nd part of Stage 1? Ordinary http access no longer works.

Is this normal and should I just wait a few hours for population to occur or am I in trouble? I cannot access C Panel either only have FTP working. Help!

I should add, asking the hosting company to do anything is a long laborious job and to be avoided at all costs. Can I can just delete the plug-in using FTP and start again?

+update+ After a break, the site is up and running-ish but still the same problem that caused me to originally consider SSL.

Because so many modern browsers have the irritating habit of forcing “https://” – it means only some of the images can be seen. Most are just a small box with a tiny icon in the upper left corner. However, manually forcing “https://” in _some_ browsers makes the site work properly. Anyone visiting my site will see a large expanse of grey where an image should be but mysteriously when scrolling down other will be visible. All other images on the site are blank when using “https://”.

#Stop Press:## Bad news – I cannot log into the WordPress admin panel nor into C Panel. The former tells me it isn’t redirecting properly and the latter tells me the “login is invalid”.

It is one of those days and panic is beginning to set in! Ha!

    Hi,

You have downloaded and installed SSL certificate perfectly on your hosting panel / cPanel. Please enable Force HTTPS or Force HTTPS via WordPress feature of WP Encryption and your HTTPS site should work fine with images loaded correctly.
