• Hi.
    I just upgraded https://awfj.org to 2.1.1, and everything seems to be ok — except that the theme we’re using, Chameleon, doesn’t load properly any longer. It only displays the header and the first item of the navigation menu. The source code of the rendered page ends like this:

    <div id="wrap">

    <div id="header">
    <a href="https://awfj.org"><img src="awfj-banner.jpg" border="0" width="950" height="150"/></a>
    <h2></h2>
    </div>

    <div id="navigation">
    <ul>
    <li class="page_item current_page_item"><a href="https://awfj.org">Home</a></li>

    The next menu item isn’t shown, nothing is after this. Other themes work fine. If anybody has any idea what the problem might be, I would very much appreciate it–I’m at the end of my rope.

    One other thing I noticed is that Options > Reading does not display anything. I don’t know if that’s related. Everything else seems to be ok.

    Thank you much for your help.

    Actually, thinking about it now, I realize that the pages must have something to do with it. I took another look, and themes that display pages in a horizontal row across the top don’t display properly. The themes that do work only work when I don’t put the “pages” widget into the sidebar.

    The site does contain a large number of pages, probably around 100-200. Only a few of them — about six — were in the top level that displayed on the navigation menu though.

    Can anybody help with this? This is a fairly busy non-for-profit site I’m helping with pro bono, and I’m completely out of ideas. Something is very wrong with displaying pages — in any theme, and on the options > reading page, and I’m not sure what to do.

    Thanks again.

    Hi again.

    I spent all day messing with this, deleting all WP files and reconstructing the install from scratch with only the necessary theme and plugs installed, and everything up to date.

    The problem is still the same: WP cannot render a list of pages, anywhere. If they’re in a horizontal nav bar, it crashes. If they’re in the sidebar, it crashes. If they’re in a widget, it crashes. It doesn’t even show them in Options> Reading. It shows them in Manage >Pages only if I search for them.

    I’m desperate now. Please help, anybody?

    There are many many ways to display pages in a WP blog. Way too many to try and guess how you’re theme does it.

    Could you share?

    As you probably noticed when you read up on the 2.1x release, Pages are treated a bit differently now, and some older themes are going to have problems, along with some of the older template tags.
