    Sybre,

First of all, thank you one more time for the fantastic plugin. I love the breadcrumbs – with Yoast I couldn’t get them no matter what I tried.

I see some issues with Google, but not sure what the source of the problem is, your plugin or Google.

I have two posts, both of them in category1 and category2.
In Google search results they are sometimes shown:
    postX: site_name > category 1
    postY: site_name > categoty 2
despite both posts are in both categories.

If I make category 2 the child of category 1, will anything change?

What is more, sometimes in Google I see breadcrumbs:
    site_name > category_name
    and sometimes:
    site_name > Category: category_name

Is there any filter to address the “category” keywoard appearing sometimes before the category name? I think your plugin changed its behavior and Google is showing different results depending on when the page was indexed.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi Gregorz,

Case 1: If the categories aren’t hierarchical (i.e. “parent/child”), then there will be two scripts outputted.

Case 2: If they are hierarchical, then two or three scripts will be outputted. With one that’s longer, and thus dominant.

When we’re dealing with Case 1:
The breadcrumb scripts are output alphabetically.

When we’re dealing with Case 2:
The breadcrumb scripts are outputted alphabetically, but the longest one (with most links) will be outputted first regardless.

Google picks the first one found for the SERP (Search Engine Results Page). Other ones are either discarded or are to be used for more information about the structure of your website.

The “Category: category_name” output shouldn’t be present within the Breadcrumbs. It could be that you’ve entered that title manually within the Category.
There is a filter, but I don’t think it should affect breadcrumbs as `$args[‘meta’] is true (line 1297).

I hope this clears things up!
