Incorporating Artists from a new custom post type

For a uni assignment I have created a site for a fictional promotions/management company and am using events manager to list and take bookings for events.
I have created a new custom post type for ‘Artists’ and am using this to give details of the artists that are on the books of the company.
What I would like to do is to be able to select the artists that will be performing at an event from these post types when creating a new event, and then put an event list on each artist page to show the events that these artists will be playing at.
I am new to wordpress and am struggling to understand how I can do this.
Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?
