Incorrect Homepage

You should check your database for any old links from your development site.

I just looked and I have two databases. I’m thinking I should delete the old one from the old site. What do you think?

Before deleting anything, I would always recommend creating a backup.

Also, did you create a static front page?

Yes I did create a static front page. And yes good idea on the backup. I think what I’m looking at is a database that was created when I did the fresh install of WordPress and then a database that got transferred over when I moved the files. I’m still a novice at all this backend stuff. Does that sound possible?

Another thing I noticed is that the strange website that came up are all html files. I’m thinking I’m supposed to delete the old html files, but I didn’t. Maybe I should?

Are the database credentials correct in your wp-config.php file? Also, is WordPress in the correct directory? A link to your site would also be helpful.

Thanks for your help Marc. I got it working correctly by deleting the old HTML files. I think the thing I need to learn for the future is more about keeping the files clean (deleting items not needed) and a little more on databases. If you have any recommended reading on that, I would appreciate it.
