    Hi,

When I edit a download, in the editing interface (where you upload the file and see the version, date and number of downloads), the ID number is incorrect.

So in the editing page of the download, when it says the ID is 2034, the real ID is 2033. Is it possible to correct this bug so that the correct ID appears in the editing interface of downloads?

    Thanks!

  • This isn’t a bug. The ID your see in that interface is the ID of the download version. One download can have multiple file versions. The download has an ID and each version has an ID.

    Hope this clears things up.

OK, but the ID I see in the interface does not work. I’m trying to use this plugin with bbpress, and since the shortcode doesn’t work in bbpress, I put the url : mydomain.com/download/ID

But when I put the ID that is visible in the interface, it doesn’t work; I have to use the one in the browser URL. If it’s not a bug, I guess I don’t really understand why the ID in the interface doesn’t work… also we only uploaded one file, not more than one versions.

This is marked resolved. But I also have the same problem. Only 1 file uploaded and different ID showing in the two screens. Only the one on the all downloads listing works. The “version” ID is always off by one.

Like I said the version ID is the ID of the version, not the ID of the download. It supposed to be ‘one off’ because it’s another DB record. ??

Sorry for being obtuse. But what is the point of a version if you can’t reference it in the short code?

Not sure which is the version and which is the download. Maybe I am having a terminology/definition problem. I assume that when I add a new download that the version 1 is the same as the original download? Wouldn’t they be in synch until such a time as I added a link to a different version of the original?

Maybe to remove the confusion, both numbers could be included in the interface? Like this?

    Version ID – #3400
    Download ID – #3399

Just a thought. It would be useful for people who need to insert the code manually in bbPress.

@elliottmart The version ID is included for people that want to do custom code that need the version.

@maryseb2 Sounds good. I’ll add the Download ID more clear in the next version
