  • Maybe a plugin conflict (probably with the one which adds that #), so deactivate all of them and reactivate one by one everytime clearing cache to see which is the culprit

Thanks, tizz. I tried to deactivate all of the plugins but NextGen, and it didn’t help.

I think I solved this problem. Still like to have someone confirms it, though. It appears that the problem was that the public permission to wp-content/gallery was set to read and execute only. After I change it to read, write, and execute then it works fine.

I still don’t really like the solution, though.

Now the gallery works as expected, but you still have URLs with that code added. The fault is AddThis plugin’s. This isn’t harmful but is no good, so read here to fix it.
As for the galleries, if you don’t like the visualization you can give a style with CSS and/or a template, but that’s another question.

@tizz – Thanks for working through this issue and pointing out a fix as well!

tizz, you’re AWESOME!! That’s another thing that I always wanted to know. When I first saw that extra code a few years ago, I thought someone hacked into my blog. I’ve never figured it out until now.

I changed the setting and it now doesn’t display the extra code. Thanks for the tip!
