    Hi

I’m really enjoying your plugin. You’ve done a fantastic job.

Just a question. I’ve created a custom home page for AMP (based on my original home page, of course).

[I’ve added a canonical tag from the AMP page back to the original page (using Yoast SEO) and selected “Hide AMP on specific pages” for the original page in General Settings of your plugin. Please tell me if I’ve not configured that correctly.]

When I view the AMP version of the page (using /?amp), I get the correct page, but the SEO meta that’s included in my browser is from my designated blog thread. Whuh?

Interestingly, when I check the AMP version of my blog thread page, I get my HOME PAGE displayed (with the correct SEO meta from my blog thread). Whuh???

Is this something to do with Automattic’s AMP plugin which you use as your base? (I know Automattic is only AMPing posts and not pages, at this point.)

If so, is there a way to work around this?

    Thank you heaps.

    Hello @craigrkirkby,

I see you have found the settings on how to set custom frontpage for amp and hide amp for specific pages in the ticket https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/v0-8-5-is-live-and-fully-compatible-with-0-4-update/#post-8274387

Do you have any other questions or should I close this ticket?

    Hi Mohammed

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I found the custom frontpage and hide settings.

However, my question on this thread remains.

When I view the AMP version of the page (using /?amp), I get the correct page, but the SEO meta that’s included in my browser is from my designated blog thread. Whuh? See here: https://snag.gy/42sK3o.jpg

Interestingly, when I check the AMP version of my blog thread page, I get my HOME PAGE displayed. (The SEO meta in the browwer is correct but the page displayed is wrong). Whuh??? See here: https://snag.gy/bwO5B6.jpg

Is this something to do with Automattic’s AMP plugin which you use as your base? (I know Automattic is only AMPing posts and not pages, at this point.)

This is interesting and it is working correctly on the second page ( https://take.ms/NW9L7 ), but the issue is coming on homepage.

I will do few tests and check meta info on different pages and will get back to you.

    Hi Mohammed

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, all the pages are working fine except the Home page and blog thread. This is why I thought it might have something to do with the AMP plugin by Automattic. They’ve only configured posts not pages yet (as you well know). If I just use their plugin (without yours), the blog post thread is the default AMP ‘page’ displayed. So, this default configuration may be the problem?

    Hey @craigrkirkby

This is very strange, I am troubleshooting this issue rightnow.

I will get back to you on this soon as possible.

    Regards,

    Hi Ahmed

Have you discovered the problem? I have processed the latest plugin update (0.8.5.3) hoping the canonical fix would solve it, but I still have the problem.

I’ve now installed your plugin on a second site and the same problem exists.

    (1) The blog thread meta data incorrectly appears in the browser of the Home page: https://snag.gy/1pFjaV.jpg

    (2) The home page content incorrectly appears on the blog page:
    https://snag.gy/aPXuct.jpg

This is happening on two different sites. Surely I can’t be the only one with this problem?

    Please advise.

    Hey @craigrkirkby
Yes, you are right. Frontpage feature is still very new, we are working on improving and fixing these issues. You can expect a better compatibility in the future updates.

    Hi Ahmed & Mohammed

Again, I just want to congratulate you both on an excellent plugin. I’m now finished AMPing on my third site with your plugin and all three sites are reporting pages correctly indexed by Google … error free.

There remains one problem … the subject of this email thread.

On all three websites, the SEO meta data (generated by the Yoast SEO plugin) is displaying incorrectly in the browser of the site’s home page.

Instead of the custom SEO meta data for the home page, it displays the meta data of the most recent blog post.

Above in earlier entries to this query, I speculated that this may have be the result of Automattic’s plugin that you’re building upon (as they only AMP posts not pages at this point.)

On further reflection, it could be a conflict between your plugin and Yoast SEO?

    Can you please advise?
