Incorrect # of posts per category

Using 2.03 w/manja theme, PHP5 and MySQL5 back-end on Linux.

I imported a fairly large number of categorized posts from another database. Unfortunately for some reason the number of posts per category in the “Sections” list shows -1 for the 3 sections displayed. However if you click on any of the sections you will see a results page with a number of posts being correctly displayed.

My posts are correctly categorized (using the wp_post2cat table). Any idea what might be going on there?
