During a store reporting consolidation, we noticed that there was a discrpenacy in the reporting for categories.

If we total all sales except for the [PROBLEM] Category, it ties out to other revenue reports the client can generate within WooCommerce and makes sense when doing an internal revenue reconciliation.

When adding the [PROBLEM] category, and add this number into, it is overstating sales.

Is this core behavior with WooCommerce reporting? We found some of the products are in two categories – both “[CATEGORY1]” and “CATEGORY2” – WooCommerce is reporting them twice when you filter by category.

    Hi @sitecare ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you have noticed discrepancies in the reporting for categories, is this correct?

Please could you clarify if you are referring to the built-in Analytics found via Dashboard → Analytics?

As you have mentioned, some of the products are in two categories, both “[CATEGORY1]” and “CATEGORY2”.

When you filter by category, WooCommerce may report them twice, which can result in an overstatement of sales.

To clarify, the total of the rows in the categories report does not necessarily match the totals at the bottom of the report if you have products in multiple categories and/or child categories.

You can read more about this in our support documentation here.

Please do let us know if I misinterpret your concern in any way, we’ll be happy to check this further.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
