  • I have the same/similar issue. I am not the owner of the Google calendar, but when I display it on a regular page using an i frame, I had to add the time zone to the link in order to get events to display at the right time

    <iframe style=”border-width: 0;” src=”https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?showTitle=0&showTz=0&mode=AGENDA&height=600&wkst=1&bgcolor=%23FFFFFF&src=v2gfcs7b7kquf6mm5g4a4kgiqimnuins%40import.calendar.google.com&color=%23125A12&ctz=America%2FChicago&#8221; width=”600″ height=”600″ frameborder=”0″ scrolling=”no”></iframe>

Now that i upgraded from Gcal to Simple Calendar, I am having the same timezone issue with the calendar events. Events are displaying in GMT +0 instead of Central time (i.e. band at 2:00 AM instead of 8:00 AM on 1/26/16 https://monroeschoolpto.com/calendar-agenda/)

I’ve played around with all of the advanced settings for timezone and can’t seem to find a solution that works. Perplexed.

I have not resolved this issue yet.

    Any ideas?

I have not been able to resolve this issue either.

I had a previous timezone issue on this same site. An embedded Google calendar was displaying properly, but when event details were clicked on, the timezone would be wrong. The site is hosted with Go Daddy, the other sites I use the same plugins on are not. So, I did some investigating and found it was an issue with the “object-cache.php” file. The workaround was to rename the file to “_object-cache.php” Could this problem be due to a similar issue. Sorry, I am not that technical, but thought it might be worth sharing in case it’s a server setting issue.

Here is a document you can go through to be sure everything is set correctly: https://docs.simplecalendar.io/timezone-settings/

Also, for the calendar setting you can try setting the timezone to “Site Default” or “Custom” instead of using the “Event Source” default option. I have heard of reports of that fixing timezone issues in some cases.

Let me know if any of that helps.

I do not own the calendar, so I can not adjust settings there.

I have tried using Custom along with “Chicago,” as well as trying several of the UTC options – nothing is working properly. The “Chicago” setting does not change the times, the UTC settings change the times, but they are still not correct (no matter which options I select.)

Is it a public shared calendar or something? Why don’t you have access to it?

Yes, the calendar is a public calendar. Specifically, the calendar is owned by the school district and managed by the school adminstration. The site I’m working on is the Parent Teacher Organization for that school that wants to display the school activities on their website. I consult on four other PTO sites in the same district. All the sites use(d) GCal. I recently upgraded two to Simple Calendar. One works fine, the other has the wrong times showing.

Maybe try changing the timezone setting of the calensra to use your site default or custom setting than the “Event source” setting that is default. Does that work?
