Increase memory allocated to PHP – will it speed up my site?

  • I’m just curios.. If I increase the WP_MEMORY_LIMIT from 32M to 64 or 96M will it make my website load faster? I have a lot of posts and sometimes it’s very slow. I installed the wp-cache and Gears but still slow.

  • I wouldn’t have thought so. There are many other factors that could impact on page download times – number of images, overall page size, permalink structure etc.

    oh I see. Would you say that the hosting provider has the greatest impact on speed?

    No. The overall page size (including all images & other media) probably has the biggest impact.

    hmm interesting. I always thought the host might be an issue. I guess internet speed also counts. Some WordPress sites load slow even on basic cable connection.
