Increasing load time significantly

In addition to creating a lot of 404 errors for css sheets created for every single tag, category, post etc.
I’m noticing that this is adding over a full second to the sites load time (about 30% of the load time when activated).
I’m running 1.1 of the plugin and 3.6 of wp.
