Increasing the width of topbar menu to fit on one line

Hi,

I have searched high and low to try and find a way to make my topbar menu fit all on one line so that it looks neater. I am a complete beginner to all of this, but I would be grateful for any help provided.

I have seen the custom css:

.kad-topbar {
width:100%;
}

which I have incorporated into custom css box and child theme, but in both (live site and child theme), it doesn’t appear to change anything. I am using the wrong code? Can anyone suggest some code which I could use – there doesn’t appear to be an option to change the width of the menu via the theme options.
