    I am sad to see that Monster Insights has decided it is ok to put an advert in the post editor screen.

    Adding a advert to a box that had a useful purpose would be bad enough, but adding one that only includes an untickable tickbox that says it is a pro feature is spammy behaviour. And giving this advert such high priority that it sits above the Publish box is terrible.

    I’m surprised it’s allowed in a plugin in the WP.org directory to be honest.

    I’m moving to Google Site Kit

  • Not that I agree with it but it is quite common on “lite” plugins to mention their PRO version.

    After all, you are getting a FREE plugin that the author(s) worked for a long time building it.

    Hi @primitivenet and @miroslavglavic,

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

    I’m sorry about the frustration with the Exclude page from Google Analytics Tracking metabox. It’s not our intent to cause clutter. We try to provide as much value as possible to our users by communicating the Pro version features because a lot of users aren’t aware of them and can benefit greatly. The metabox is collapsible, and if using the Classic Editor, it can be moved to a different position in the edit page.

    We really appreciate you for giving us a try and if you have any suggestions for the things you’d like to see in the Lite version, please let me know and I’d be happy to share your feedback with the team.

    And if you’d like more help with using MonsterInsights Lite, please feel welcome to reach us at https://www.monsterinsights.com/lite-support/

    Thank you.

    I agree that yet another upgrade prompt is getting overboard. The newest post edit sidebar one sits in the most important spot, above the publish meta box in the classic editor, and by my count adds to at least two other different MI messages I’m seeing across the admin area: the overlay panel on the left that can only be dismissed for a short time, and the top ‘are you enjoying…’ panel.
    I really appreciate this plugin and that a free version is offered, and I understand the need to make money, but hijacking the entire backend feels off.

    +1, came here to see if anyone else had flagged up.

    I get frustrated closing the flyout ‘tooltips’ of yours, constantly on multiple client sites, but a meta box above the publish box on the on the edit post page is a step too far in my view.

    I get you need to advertise pro, and we welcome the free tool – keep your top nav link if you like, and your dashboard meta box, but be fair and please remove this – if every plugin did the same thing, we’d be in a mass of adverts.

    This is getting worse – I even raised a ticket trying to standardise plugin notifications. You’re going to hasten such a system with spammy meta boxes.

    Hi @stevenjc and @crdunst,

    I’m sorry about the delay here. I just wanted to say I appreciate you both for sharing your thoughts. I’ve let our team know about your insights and experience with this.

    Thank you!

    +1

    Who is using the Classic Editor? You’re hijacking some of the most valuable real estate on the screen, & for many of my posts it’s displaying in the sidebar twice. https://ibb.co/s2yVJph

    What an annoying update. You don’t need to be this annoying to sell your Pro version. We’re replacing MonsterInsights asap.

    You can remove the meta box using this:

    add_action( 'add_meta_boxes', function() {
        remove_meta_box( 'monsterinsights-metabox', null, 'side' );
    }, 99 );

    Yes, this IS spammy. I wouldn’t mind if it would be lower on page but some editors or contributors don’t know that they can disable or move meta boxes, so their layout has changed only because one update and they had to look at it every time. Until now. Thanks Gavin.

    This is just straight up spam, and placing above the publish box makes it doubly so. I have customers who use the paid version, and those who don’t need it. But to be honest, I find this to be pretty user-hostile and won’t be recommending the program any longer.
