Index Page shows up on my website

I have installed wordpress sucessfully, and have published some pages and uploaded a theme. However, when I go to my site, the index of all my wordpress files is what appears. After I make changes on my wordpress dashboard they say it’s successful but when I click on “visit site” or “view page” the index still shows up. Can ya help a brotha out?
