    Hy Guys!

If you search for Possart 13 in Google, you will find several links that lead to pictures that are no more in the WP media library. Here is one example:

I blocked it for the short run via Google Search Console but for the long run I need it completely removed. Can you please help me to find the source and how to delete it permanent? PS: I use RANK MATH.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

  • I’m confused by your example.

This is supposed to be an example of an image that’s no longer in the WP Media library. Yet the URL does not lead to a “404 – Not Found” page or redirect to another page: it displays an image.

As long as the image exists on your website and is publicly accessible — search engines will index it.

The permanent solution is to remove it from your site (hosting server).

I am also confused because I am not able to find the source where the pictures hide. The images are no longer in the word press media library. Where else could it hide?

It is not in possart13.com wp content uploads. I do not understand where it could hide!?

Here’s the full URL to the full-sized image on the server:

    https://www.possart13.com/wp-content/uploads/perspektive-weit.webp

The generated thumbnail versions should be in the same location.

    What was the issue?

There were 2 identical images with the same caption, but one caption had an additional punction mark… ??

UPDATE: There is another problem that precedes the problem described above. If you enter the company name in Google, the pages that should be indexed appear with the correct links (fore example team, generation change, etc.). Occasionally, however, additional links appear that do not link to the correct page, but to an image contained in the page. How can I change this or where is the error?

From Google’s perspective, it is the correct page.

WordPress creates a so-called “Attachment Page” for every image (and other files as well). It’s these attachment pages that are being indexed by Google.

The RankMath SEO plugin has a feature to redirect these attachment pages elsewhere and prevent Google from indexing them. Note that even after enabling this feature, the existing pages already indexed by Google will continue to show in search results until Google refreshes their index of your site, though clicking on those links should now send you to wherever you’ve redirected them. See: https://rankmath.com/kb/should-you-redirect-attachments/

    Good luck!
