Indexed, not submitted in sitemap

    Hi,

    I am using the Yoast SEO plugin (including for a sitemap).

    The sitemap was submitted in Google Search Console but under ‘Coverage’ it states – “Indexed, not submitted in sitemap”.

    I don’t know why this is the case. Can you please offer some guidance?

    Thanks for reaching out regarding your sitemap.

    The status ‘indexed, not submitted in sitemap’ is not a cause for concern. It means Google found this particular URL through other means and not through the submitted sitemap. There’s no need to worry as this just means it’s a valid URL and is indeed indexed and appearing in the search results.
